Captain Morgans Log: 4/4/2015
Well here we are day one. A little bit of nervous anticipation this morning as we were getting ready for the 9.50am train to Manchester then Carlisle and St Bees.
Finally we arrived at Carlisle, but then had to wait for another train as it was cancelled
Finally we arrived at St Bees along with my in laws and daughters Olivia and Poppy who joined us for the off tomorrow.
Which brings us to the first day. Tomorrow we set off very early for the 40 mile stretch. We Start at St Bees then through Eskdale and Hardknotts pass, one of the highest road gradients in the UK which will lead us into Ambleside for the first checkpoint. So for now we are just tucking into some ham and eggs and we will report back tomorrow evening. HAPPY EASTER xxx
